Like so many of the best ones, the song form of this perfect Navalism - that started life as a tweet in 2018, made its way to a podcast, and now here - arrived in my mind fully formed, harmonies and all, and it was but a case of getting it out of that mind, and into some tangible form that could then be enjoyed and sung along to for all time. I carved away at it with love and care until it existed just as I had envisaged it, right down to the improbably buoyant bass and labyrinthine drum section, comprised of a vast and Spectorian combination of live drums, programmed drums, and a number of carefully layered drum samples taken from over 5 decades of recorded sound….

A listener left a comment earlier on the music video for last week’s A Calm Mind A Fit Body And A House Full of Love, saying, “I don't know if it's just me but I hear a synergy of your previous Naval works… AWESOME”, which pleased me, as one of the sonic aims of this new album, the conclusion of the HOW TO GET RICH trilogy was indeed to bring together the essence of the first two, and then add a third aspect… and you’ll find some of that in this song. Song? Nay. ANTHEM!
