Brothers and sisters, please make some fucking noise for the Meaningwave Universe’s newest member, the honourable Pope NICK REKIETA, smashing into the MU with the instant monster smash record, THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FEAR THE PEOPLE!
As you may know, I have years worth of Meaningwave records planned out years in advance, each building on what came before, each part of a grand narrative, and each able to exist on its own…But I always make sure to leave some room for that unplanned lightning bolt stroke of SUDDEN INSPIRATION, which must always be acted upon immediately, for as we know, inspiration is perishable…
This was one of those situations, whereon I happened upon a clip of everyone’s favourite public-facing lawyer slash cultural commentator slash toast-master slash pope, breaking down something crucial and fundamental with such utter brutal glittering clarity that I had to drop everything I was doing and with extreme violent urgency tear the song that appeared in my head out of 5D idea space and intoour own existence.
I got most of it out into being in a few hours, then spent about a month chiseling away at the sonic detailing, those tiny little things like drum rolls and lasers and the exact right guitar tone and a choir of glitter particles to explode forth from the final wails of the solo… and that was BEFORE I handed it over to my guy mighty James Millar for the final mix and master polish, and I do believe he sent over about 8 versions before it was deemed ready to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting populace.
Well, now it’s unleashed, and it’s yours, and I hope you enjoy its existence as much as I enjoyed participating in the creation of it.
Special thanks to Pope Nick for blessing its release, and spitting the bars of righteousness in the first place.
LOVE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
